So, this post is kind of late, but it may have something to do with how busy we are now that Brigham has arrived. Yea!!!!!! This will be the first of many posts to catch you up on how he is doing. Here are some pictures of him when he was first born.
The story of Brigham's Birth: Brigham was born on Friday January 11, 2008 at 2:16 p.m. He was 8lbs 3 oz and 20 inches long. We are very excited that he was able to come on his own, since he was past his due date and we were scheduled to be induced on Sunday. Thursday night, I started having labor pains around 9:00. At about midnight, contractions were coming every four minutes, lasting about 40 seconds. Around 2:30 a.m., we decided to go to the hospital, though after an hour of monitoring, we were sent home since we had only progressed half a centimeter (2.5-3) in that time. With a shot of morphine and phenegren, we were told to go home and rest and come back if labor continued. So after about four hours of trying to sleep between contractions every three minutes (that totally doesn't work!), we got up and started timing contractions till they were coming every one to two minutes, at which time we went back to the hospital (about 9:00 a.m.). At 12:15 p.m., I started pushing. Two hours later (for a total of 16 hours of active labor) Brigham was born with only a little help from the doctor (forceps and a small episiotomy). Brigham's head was a little brused but other than that he did very well throughout labor and delivery.
